Description

The Life Sciences Building will accommodate the Schools of Biological Sciences and Medicine and newly established institute for Life Sciences (IfLS). It has been designed to reflect the University's ambition to establish a world-leading centre of cross-disciplinary research, learning and innovation.

Accommodation is provided for approximately 300 teaching staff, support staff and research academics, which will primarily be from schools of Biological Sciences and Medicine. In addition, the building has teaching laboratories for up to 186 undergraduates, with classrooms or seminar rooms for a further 120.

The Proposed CCTV Surveillance System will comprise of:

  • Siemens Solaris fully functional External dome cameras, which will perform "pre-set" tours of the external perimeter of the site and will be linked to the Intruder Alarm for defined areas of view and mounted to Altron Columns.
  • Axis Internal static cameras offering general surveillance of the designated areas

The proposed system will be connected to Dedicated Micros Digital Sprite with a 500 GB hard drive

The Proposed Intruder Alarm Systems have been assessed as Grade 2 and capable of generating confirmed alarms within designated areas. Remote Signalling will be generated via a signal sent to the CCR via the University's internal Network and the BMS critical alert system

Network Security and Fire are looking forward to working together with BAM again on this project and hope there will be many more opportunities to come
